(Monday January 9, 2012. We visit Caracas down town to define the geographic area where we analyze hospitality. What we call old town, a rectangular-shaped part, has its south-west corner just here, at ESQUINA MIRANDA, Lecuna Avenue)
(East the avenue, 9am, circulation of people and vehicles is still light. Good moment for breakfast and visiting public offices. An agency of BANCO DE VENEZUELA is in this block, and there are also the following: 1) El Tucán Tasca Restaurant (equestrian center), 2) Hua Kiu Restaurant (Chinese food), 3) Copacabana Chicken Restaurant, 4) Piña musical (Venezuelan Musical Instruments), 5) Two Hardwares, 6) A Clothing sale )
(West, Lecuna Avenue intersects with Baralt Avenue. At right corner we find Miranda Square, and Lecuna Avenue has just two blocks left. This area is out of our study field)
(We walk East the avenue, next corner we got the following pictures):
(At this point we must highlight the location of City Council Building (GOBIERNO DEL MUNICIPIO LIBERTADOR), GLORIETA building, where it takes place important administrative and fiscal procedures, as commercial tax payment, council service corporation, Bureau of Information, police administration, and Mayor main office. Between this and next corner, the most interesting service is “EL ARROYO”, a kind of hotel, restaurant, salad bar and bakery, all-in-one. We find also the most important transportation service in the avenue: ESTACION DE METRO TEATROS, which offer the faster and effective access to Lecuna Avenue for people walking. There is also a thematic restaurant with most common breakfast in town: AREPAS SABOR CRIOLLO, and ALBA clothing store)
Una cuadra después:
(A block after):
(We finish this avenue at ESQUINA CIPRESES, the Southeast corner of the rectangular-shaped part we call Old Town (CASCO HISTÓRICO). On this block there isn´t any service deserving special attention, except the South wall of The National Theater, really the only heritage we found on this part of the Lecuna Avenue)
